What we do

HVO fuel transition

  • Cut your emissions with a seamless transition to innovative renewable fuels

Many large-scale consumers of red diesel are already improving their carbon footprints by switching to alternative fuels, and most engine manufacturers have now confirmed EN15940 compatibility utilising a synthetic biodiesel called Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO).

    What is HVO?
HVO fuel is a form of renewable diesel produced from sustainably sourced vegetable fats and oils. It relies on completely renewable crops that minimise damage to the environment, the natural ecosystem, and the drive for global deforestation. HVO is the current alternative fuel of choice, offering the best overall environmental, operational and energy performance.

    Why switch to HVO?
HVO fuel offers a number of advantages over red diesel:

    • HVO reduces greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants by up to 80-90%. Experts calculate that 1000 litres of HVO releases 195 kg of CO2, compared to 3600kg for the same amount of regular diesel.
    • HVO fuel is suitable for existing diesel generators and vehicles with little or no modification needed to the engines.
    • HVO is readily available and comes at a competitive price.
    • Cleaner burn reduces emissions and makes it ideal for use in urban clean air zones.
    • Excellent cold temperature performance, improving cold start properties in winter.
    • Improved storage capability (red diesel often contains FAME biodiesels that raise the risk of storage tank contamination).
    • Extended ten-year storage lifespan with a reduced need for regular testing and maintenance.
