AVK and Landmark Power Holdings (LMPH) are soon to be collaborating on delivering low-carbon, resilient power solutions for mission-critical and hyperscale data centres. This agreement marks the next step in preparing for future-ready power infrastructure, combining AVK’s resilient microgrid expertise with LMPH’s proven FLEXPOWER PLUS® technology. The partnership supports the advancement of carbon capture technology commercialisation, particularly within the UK market and includes a planned project pipeline for collaboration.

In an industry-leading initiative for the UK, we have signed a memorandum of understanding with Landmark Power Holdings (LMPH) to develop low-carbon, behind-the-meter power solutions tailored for data centres.

Building on the existing pilot installation initiative and the global scaling ambitions of the successful trilateral partnership between Landmark, ASCO, and Rolls-Royce, we aim to support Landmark’s efforts to integrate carbon capture with Rolls-Royce’s mtu gas reciprocating engines and ASCO’s leading carbon capture technology. This addresses the urgent demand for sustainable power solutions in data centres.

As the largest and fastest-growing supplier of innovative power solutions for data centres and leading organisations in the UK and Europe, we’re excited to see what this partnership holds. LMPH develops efficient, low-carbon power plants using its patented FLEXPOWER PLUS® technology, converting conventional gas-fired generation into clean, flexible and distributed energy.

In the scaling of FLEXPOWER PLUS®, LMPH work with ASCO for state-of-the-art carbon capture technology, and Rolls-Royce, through its mtu brand, for advanced reciprocating gas and diesel engines. These technologies underpin the AVK–LMPH initiative, ensuring a reliable supply chain and strong R&D foundation.

The agreement positions LMPH and ourselves at the forefront of energy innovation, combining proven carbon capture technology with resilient power infrastructures to address one of the industry’s most pressing challenges – how to decarbonise power for data centres while maintaining reliability and efficiency. This integrated approach lays the groundwork for the next generation of microgrids and dispatchable power systems; essential as hyperscale and AI infrastructure drive unprecedented energy demand.

This is a new approach that also provides offtake opportunities for carbon sequestration and utilisation.

Under the three-year agreement, with potential for extension, we will deploy mtu gas reciprocating engines enhanced with ASCO carbon capture, integrated into advanced microgrid systems. AVK will lead on design, planning, implementation and maintenance services, including front-end EPC (engineering, procurement and construction). LMPH brings proven experience from its operational 10MW peaking plant in Worksop, North Nottinghamshire, where FLEXPOWER PLUS® has already been deployed at scale. This site demonstrates how carbon capture can be practically integrated with mtu reciprocating engines, making this partnership not just an ambition, but a solution already tested in the field.

The UK project pipeline includes:

  • A 30MW consented site at Mill Hill, County Durham
  • A 20MW BTM development in Dagenham

Further expansion is planned across the European Economic Area, including the EU, Norway and Iceland.

Together with LMPH and its partners Rolls-Royce and ASCO, we are proving that decarbonisation is not a theoretical exercise; it is already the reality. These developments represent the next step in the journey towards fully integrated, low carbon microgrid ecosystems designed for the critical power demands of modern data centres.

“This strategic agreement represents a major step in AVK’s commitment to delivering sustainable power solutions for the rapidly growing data centre industry. It is also a next step in preparing for the future of microgrids and dispatchable power – essential as hyperscalers and AI infrastructure drive unprecedented energy demand. FLEXPOWER PLUS® complements our full power chain capabilities perfectly, including our work on prime power and microgrids, as well as standby and modular power pods. By combining AVK’s engineering and delivery expertise with Landmark’s, ASCO’s, and Rolls-Royce’s technologies proven carbon capture and power technology, we are creating a brand new route to reliable, low-carbon energy that will not just meet the urgent need for sustainable data centre power solutions but also pave the way for future ground-breaking developments.”

– Ben Pritchard, CEO of AVK-SEG

“Patented in the UK, EU and US, our FLEXPOWER PLUS® has already demonstrated its effectiveness at scale, and this agreement with AVK, besides the existing Partnership with ASCO and Rolls-Royce, allows us to bring that proven capability to the demanding data centre sector. With these BTM power solutions, we are pushing forward together in delivering on a joint vision for decarbonising data centres without compromising on resilience.”

–  Mick Avison, Founder and CEO of LMPH
